Time to update again!

Sorry it has taken us so long! Hopefully we will get into the habit of updating this site much more regularly. It has been a great couple of weeks here at Cafe 58. We had a much-needed break between the holidays, and now we are back into the swing of things. The cafe has stayed incredibly busy, and we have a lot of great catering opportunities coming up in the next few months. The joke around here now is that if you've been praying for us to be busy, you can stop that and start praying for more volunteers! :) But we know that this is in God's hands, and we are letting Him make it into what he wants. Sometimes we think our mission is different than what we expected, but we know that that is not our decision to make. We will continue to pray that His will is done here.

We have heard that some people are having trouble with our menu calendar and volunteer calendar. Try refreshing the page a couple of times, it will probably work after that. Sorry if it is a pain for you!

We need more volunteers! If you are interested, feel free to check our volunteer calendar, stop in and talk to us, call us, or email us. And you don't have to follow the times listed in the calendar, either. If a day that works for you looks full already, let us know, we'd still love your help. And if you want a different time slot than those that are listed, just let us know. We are flexible!

Hey everyone!

We are glad to announce the offical opening of Cafe 58! Things are going really well and God is being served. We are now serving suppers from 5-7 on Tuesday, Wednsday, and Thursday. We serve coffee from 9-3 and lunches and soups from 11-2. We are still in need of some baristas during the day and helpers for supper. The new paint colors are up! Thanks to the help of our many awesome volunteers, the pink wallpaper was taken down, the walls have been sanded (many, many times!), and the new colors are complete.

Tonight we are going to do some cleaning and dish-washing, just getting ready for the inspections. The coffee bar is started and looks great so far! This should be finished by the end of the week, so that is great news.
Our opening date is still very tentative. It will most likely be Monday, Sept. 11, although if there is any way to get our inspection by the Health Department done sooner, we will try to open sooner. We will keep you posted. Meanwhile, we are looking for volunteers that are interested in learning how to make the coffee's, so please email us if you are interested! (cafe58@mail.com)

Isaiah 58 : 6-14
6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness [a] will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
